Polyurethane foam blocks manufactured in Morocco by Innoflex
Buyer’s guide · Africa

Foam and mattresses for Africa: Morocco rather than China or Turkey.

Importing foam, mattresses or bedding supplies from Asia or Turkey means accepting weeks of transit, high stock levels and a distant supplier. Here is, criterion by criterion, what changes with an industrial supplier based in Morocco.

Comparison

Three origins, eight criteria.

Indicative comparison for delivery to West Africa (for example Dakar or Abidjan). Every supplier is different: the aim is to compare sourcing models, not companies.

Indicative transit times, port to port, or ex-works for road transport, excluding port waiting time and customs clearance; they vary with the shipping line, the carrier and the season.

The real calculation

Compare the landed cost, not the ex-works price.

A low unit price on the other side of the world can prove expensive once it reaches you. The right indicator is the landed cost in your warehouse, over a year.

  • Freight : a much shorter distance and transit time
  • Cash flow : weeks less of goods at sea to finance
  • Safety stock : reduced, because replenishment arrives quickly
  • Losses : less crushed foam, breakage and moisture on short routes
  • Lost sales : fewer stock-outs when a model sells better than expected

Frequently asked questions

Changing supplier: your questions.

Is Morocco more expensive than China?

The ex-works unit price is only part of the cost. Once freight, tied-up cash, safety stock and losses are taken into account, the gap narrows sharply, and is often reversed for bulky products such as foam and mattresses. Ask us for a quotation on your references to compare.

Why is foam poorly suited to long journeys?

Foam and mattresses are bulky, lightweight products: what is mostly being shipped is air. The longer the journey, the more freight weighs in the final price, and the greater the risk of crushing or moisture. Compression and roll-packing limit this volume, and a short journey reduces the rest.

Can I test before changing supplier?

Yes. We can send samples and start with a partial or mixed order, alongside your current sourcing.

Can you reproduce a product I already import?

In most cases, yes: from a sample or a technical data sheet, our technicians reproduce the density, firmness and construction, or propose an equivalent alternative.
